North Battlefield VA Clinic Marks Six Months of Service in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, VA — The North Battlefield VA Clinic, a state-of-the-art facility spanning 196,000 square feet, has reached a significant milestone, celebrating six months of dedicated service to veterans in the Chesapeake community.

Since its opening on April 10, 2025, the clinic has been instrumental in providing comprehensive healthcare services, including primary care, mental health support, and a full-service pharmacy, to over 28,000 veterans residing in South Hampton Roads.

Michael W. Harper, Associate Director for Operations at the Hampton VA Health Care System, expressed his enthusiasm about the clinic's progress: "We are thrilled by the opening of the new North Battlefield Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, a state-of-the-art, 200,000-square-foot facility designed to serve our Veterans with the utmost care and convenience."

The clinic's phased approach to service expansion has been pivotal. Phase one introduced Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT), mental health services, and essential support services. By July, phase two expanded offerings to include additional PACT teams, specialty care, and audiology services. The upcoming phase three, slated for completion by January 2026, will further enhance the clinic's capabilities with radiology, a full eye clinic, expanded telehealth offerings, and dental services.

Rodney Mills, Interim Health Care Center Administrator for the Hampton Health Care System Clinics, highlighted the team's dedication: "By phasing activation, fostering team collaboration, and streamlining processes, despite challenges, we reached full staffing for phases one and two ahead of schedule, enhancing operational readiness and preparing for ongoing success."

The strategic location of the North Battlefield VA Clinic addresses a longstanding need by providing essential healthcare services closer to veterans' homes, eliminating the necessity to navigate bridges and tunnels to reach the main hospital on the peninsula.
